The world faces many forms of poverty, both material and spiritual. The poor includes both the person who is hungry and homeless, and the person who is well off financially but whose life is plagued by loneliness, emptiness and meaninglessness.
The Church's Social Teachings can be challenging when viewed in their totality. Many Catholics tend to pick and choose what agrees with their values and ignore the rest. However, the Church calls us to embrace these teachings in their fullness.
