    • "Our goal has never been simply to make abortion illegal.
Our goal is to make it unthinkable."
      Archbishop Alexander Sample

Every human person is created as the “Imago Dei,” the Image of God, with a sanctity and dignity that can never be denied. Out of the profound reverence due to every human person, the Church provides support to build a culture of life and advocate for the most vulnerable.

Practices that undermine the value of ALL human life - such as abortion, assisted-suicide, the death penalty, racism - have no place in a just society. We are pro-life for the whole life - womb to tomb - from conception to natural death.

    • BEGINNING OF LIFE

Abortion is the greatest human rights violation of our time. Women and their children deserve better than abortion. We work and pray to live in a society that respects and values a culture of life. We believe strongly in supporting both mothers and babies in unexpected pregnancies. Unplanned pregnancy can overwhelming, but you are not alone. Below you can find a variety of resources. Choosing life for your baby is a decision no mother ever regrets. Contact a local Catholic Parish and let us walk with you on your journey.  HERE.

    Physician Assisted Suicide
    • In 1997, physician-assisted suicide was legalized in Oregon and the state ennacted a "Death with Dignity Act"  which allowed Oregon doctors to write a suicide prescription for a consenting person who has been diagnosed with a terminal illness.

As disciples of Our Lord, we know that life is a gift from God. We are stewards, not owners, of the life God has entrusted to us. Additionally, suicide contradicts our natural inclination to preserve and perpetuate our life, and it also contradicts the way Jesus Christ accepted death.

Suicide is gravely contrary to charity and to the three loves that constitute our existence: the love for God, the just and proper love of self, and the love for one’s neighbor (breaking the ties of solidarity with one’s family and nation).

As we encounter loved ones in our families and communities who are considering Physician-Assisted Suicide, let us address this critical end-of-life issue in the context of our Catholic faith.

    Death Penalty
    • “The dignity of human life must never be taken away, even in the case of someone who has done great evil. Modern society has the means of protecting itself, without definitively denying criminals the chance to reform.” –Pope John Paul II, Evangelium Vitae

The death penalty is unnecessary as a means of defense. It contradicts God’s plan for merciful justice and fosters a culture of revenge and unforgivingness.

Our Church teaches that every life is sacred and every person has dignity, the innocent and the guilty alike. Life belongs to God alone, and there is no one who cannot be touched by God’s mercy and changed by His love. The death penalty deprives the condemned person of the chance to have a change of heart and to make amends for his or her crimes.

In seeking an end to the death penalty, we never forget the victims of crime and their loved ones. We support them and pray that our Merciful Father grants them healing and peace. But we recognize that killing the criminal does not bring justice to the victims. Our country has far more effective ways to bring about justice and to keep society safe from violent criminals.
