Archbishop's Leadership Team is an advisory body comprised of archdiocesan departmental directors and other leaders with whom the Archbishop meets regularly and from whom he solicits input for the administration and pastoral care of the diocese.
The Council of Priests (Presbyteral Council) is a consultative body representing archdiocesan and religious priests in service to the Archdiocese. The Council’s role is to assist the Archbishop in the governance of the Archdiocese, so that the pastoral welfare of that portion of the people of God entrusted to the Archbishop may be most effectively promoted.
Priests' Personnel Commission is a group of diocesan priests who advise and assist the Archbishop in appointing pastors, priests, deacons, and area vicar foranes. The Commission helps represent the pastoral needs of the people of God in the archdiocese.
College of Consultors is a group of Archdiocesan priests who act as official advisors to the Archbishop in certain matters pertaining to the administration of the Archdiocese as detailed in canon law. The College of Consultors also acts as a governing board for the Archdiocese when the Archdiocese is vacant. Consultors are appointed by the Archbishop from members of the Archdiocesan Presbyteral Council.
Vicar Foranes are priest positions appointed by Archbishop Sample to oversee the priests of a particular area (vicariate). In essence, their role is to assist the archbishop in the essential matters of the archdiocese in the appointed area.
Pastors are priests who exercise the pastoral care of a parish (and, in some cases, more than one parish) by carrying out the functions of teaching, sanctifying, and governing. He is joined by parochial vicars, deacons, as well as by the lay members of the parish.Archdiocesan Finance Council is an advisory body appointed by the Archbishop for the purpose of assisting and advising him in the administration of the business and financial affairs of the archdiocese. The Council is composed of clergy and lay persons skilled in financial matters and who are familiar with the civil and Canon law.
Archdiocesan Pastoral Council is a body of clergy, religious, and laity who advise the Archbishop in those matters that concern the pastoral works of the Archdiocese. The Council is consultative in nature. Its primary task is to study all aspects of the life of the People of God in the Archdiocese and to make recommendations to the Archbishop concerning them.
Oregon Catholic Conference is the official public policy voice of the Catholic Church in Oregon. The OCC advocates and promotes the pastoral teaching of Oregon's Bishops on issues in service to the Catholic people of Oregon.
