The Church affirms that the inherent sacred dignity of the human person, who is made in the image and likeness of God, is the foundation for a moral and just vision for society.
Accompaniment is how we spiritually support others. It requires that we are genuinely present, listening, and supporting them with the goal of helping them hear God's call for them. God calls us to love in a way that invites them into a deeper relationship with Christ.
Our seniors have worked with dedication to raising a family which equals a lifetime of skills, experiences, and wisdom. It simply does not seem just to let them fall into isolation when they are so incredibly valuable to our families & community.
Our society values youth over age, doing over being, individualism over the common good, and independence over interdependence. Stereotypes persist, despite the growing numbers of healthy, active seniors in our parishes and communities. Aging demands the attention of the entire Church.
