Join us for Holy Mass celebrated by Bishop Peter Smith in thanksgiving for women and men in consecrated life throughout the world. A reception will follow.
In 1997, Pope Saint John Paul II established the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life, celebrated in conjunction with the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord on February 2. This feast, also known as Candlemas, commemorates the blessing of candles, a sign of Christ, the Light of the world.
Those called to consecrated life are entrusted with reflecting the light of Christ through lives of prayer, service, and witness for the good of the whole Church. To allow the entire People of God to more fully participate, the celebration of the World Day of Prayer for Consecrated Life is often observed on the following Sunday.
We invite you to join us in prayer and gratitude for the gift of consecrated life, and we hope the resources below will assist you in marking this important day within your own communities.
