Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception

The Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception is the patronal feast of the Archdiocese of Portland, St. Mary’s Cathedral, and the Church in the United States. On this Holy Day of Obligation, Archbishop Sample will celebrate Mass at 5:30 PM at the Cathedral.

On this solemnity, the Church proclaims:

“The most Blessed Virgin Mary was, from the first moment of her conception, by a singular grace and privilege of almighty God and by virtue of the merits of Jesus Christ, Savior of the human race, preserved immune from all stain of original sin.”
